The N.S.S unit of SIESASCN, as per the instructions of the N.S.S. Cell of Mumbai University, conducted an ‘Anti tobacco pledge’ event under the campaign ‘Tambaku Mukth Yuva (tobacco free youth)’ on 11th July, 2019. 63 students of the College which included 31 N.S.S. volunteers took the pledge of not using tobacco in any form.

On 21st July 2019 (Sunday), 21 NSS volunteers went for the Big Mumbai clean up by Beach warrior in association with Khushiyan Foundation to Guru Tez Bahadur Nagar. The volunteers took up the task to clean the station premises. The cleaning event started at around 7:30 am . The N.S.S volunteers with all their dedication tried their best to clean the allotted area within the specified time.

A workshop on ‘Perception Building’ was conducted on 17th August, 2019 at the Seva Kendra hall in Dadar (West) from 10 am to 5 pm. It was a workshop about gender, sexual harassment, women safety and power relations in the society. Around 100 students from 20 colleges across Mumbai attended the same.

Allumni Committee

Alumni Committee 2019- 20 of SIES (Nerul) Arts, Science & Commerce organized COLLOQUIUM 2019, which is an annual panel-based discussion that is organized by SIESNAA. The main aim of this event is to act as a bridge between the academic and the Professional worldwith the help of topics related to recent events. The panel-based discussion was conducted on 7th December, 2019. The topic selected for the year was Non- Banking Financial Companies – A economy booster or a hanging noose.

Alumni Committee of SIES(Nerul) College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized KAIZEN WAVE,which is innovative and interactive session with the students. The session was conducted on 22nd July, 2019 (Saturday). The objective for the session was career options for the students of IT & CS in the Indian Armed Forces. The session saw a participation of 120 students from CS & IT departments.

Tattva is an Inter- Collegiate Workshop on Professional Ethics Case Study Presentation. Tattva is organized by SIESNAA and in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell. The workshop is very unique and was held on 14th September, 2019 (Saturday) at the Audio-Visual Room of Graduate School of Technology from 9:00am to 12 noon. Tattva scaled new heights in the 4th edition. It became a successful inter-collegiate event that saw participation from 6 colleges and in total of 18 teams.

Students' Council

On 25th September, 2019, students of SIESASCN under the banner of Student Council celebrated Teachers Day. A special gesture of thanks giving was presented by students in the form of Classical dance and Solo singing performance. ‘Feel the Beat' dance group of our College presented a heart throbbing dance performance which was followed by a melodious chorus performance by Music Club. A series of entertaining games was arranged to end the wonderful event. In the end, all the teachers were thanked for their commitment and selfless service towards the betterment of the nation. The teachers were gifted with black folder and a pen as a token of love followed by lunch. All the teachers were overwhelmed by the efforts and love shown by the students.

SIES (Nerul) College of Arts, Science and Commerce IQAC and Student Council held a leadership programme for the students on 22nd October 2019. The programme convened at around 8am in the Amphitheater. The programme emphasized on the importance and values of leadership. The audience consisted of all the volunteers of SIESONS fest and Student Council Members. Principal Dr. Milind Vaidya talked about how leadership is an important part of a person's personality. He advised students on how to become good leaders. Vice Principal Dr. Koel Roy Choudhury also interacted with the students about the qualities of a leader and how a leader can make a difference. Mr. Muralikrishnan Nambiar ,Registrar, imparted knowledge about the responsibilities on young shoulders and guided them regarding their marketing skills

"Joy of giving never fades and getting smiles in return is priceless."One-eighth of the world's population is still struggling with malnutrition and hunger.To end this war against hunger, SIESONS 2020 ,collaborated with Feeding India to take action for hunger free streets by feeding more than a hundred children at Hope Centre in Turbhe on 7th November ,2019.

Women Development Cell

The Women Development Cell organized an orientation programme for the academic year 2019-20 and a self- defence workshop on 6th August from 11 am to 3 pm in the audio visual room of SIESASCN

The WDC & IQAC CELL of SIESASCN organized a Session on “GENDER DYNAMICSAND BEHAVIOUR” for Male Teaching and Non Teaching Faculty Members of SIESASCN. The Resource Persons Dr.Neera Kumar, Convenor-WDC, Dr.JyotiKoliyar: Co Convenor-WDC&Mr. R. Perumal:Member-WDC explained in detail the guidelines of Harassment at Workplace and Sexual Harassment.

UJJWALA: The Rising Women
Women Development Cell from SIES College, Nerul had organized their flagship event ‘UJJWALA: The Rising Women’ which was conducted on 09th March 2020 from10:30 am to 1:30 pm at the AV room of college on account of 'International Women's Day'. The event started by the lightning of the lamp by all the teachers present there.

Marathi Vangmay Mandal

Ganeshotsav was celebrated in the college in association with N.S.S. and Music Club of the College. On 2nd September 2019, the students decorated the idol of Lord Ganesha and made all the preparations for puja by 8:30 am in the gymkhana of the college. Mr. R. Perumal (Faculty, BBI) performed the aarti for the deity in the presence of students and other faculty members.

On 17th February 2020, 'Shivjayanti' was celebrated in the College in a traditional manner with a procession of ChatrapatiShivajiMaharaj’s photo and dholtasha. The event started with the lighting of the lamp by Principle Dr. Milind Vaidya and other special guests. For this programme, the committee had invited the members of Insaniyat Foundation - an NGO and members of DurgaveerPratishthan as special guests. The members of the committee presented a group dance, at the end of which one of members of MVM made an entry in the attire of ChatrapatiShivajiMaharaj giving a dramatic closure to the performance.

On February 27, the Marathi Rajbhasha Din was organized in the quadrangle of the college. The program started with Dhol Tasha in the morning welcoming Mr. MandarApte, the great musician, along with some prominent guests such as Ms. ShreyasiMantravadi, Ms. SangeetaParadkar, Ms. DnyaneshwariShinde and Insanityat Foundation President Mr. Arjun Meghe.

South Indian Association

On 24th September 2019, the South Indian Association celebrated its first event for the academic year 2019-2020, i.e. the “Inauguration Ceremony and Onam Celebration”. Ms.Padmaleela D (Coordinator, BSc (CS) was called upon to speak a few words on SIA and she announced the inauguration for the year 2019-20. Following this was a ramp walk of the faculty (Mr. R. Perumal, (Faculty BBI and Convenor), Mr.MithunPillai (Coordinator, BMM and Co-convenor), and other faculty members, Dr. B. Indumathi (Co-ordinator, BAF), Ms.Padmaleela D and Ms.AshwathyRavindran (Faculty, BCom) with a few students displaying the culture and clothing style of all the four states of Southern India namely, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh.

The South Indian Association started the New Year 2020 with Pongal and Sankranti Celebrations in the College premises on 13th of January 2020 in the Quadrangle from 11 am. This celebration aimed at presenting a contrasting visual of harvest festivals celebrated in three states namely, Telengana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. The celebrations started with the lighting of the lamp, followed by the inaugural address by the Principal Dr. Milind Vaidya. Thereafter, Ms. Padmaleela D. (Coordinator, BSc CS, and Member, SIA) spoke about Sankranti - the harvest festival of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and Dr. Indumati B. (Faculty, BAF, and Member, SIA) spoke about Pongal - the Tamil harvest festival.

On 9th December 2019, the South Indian Association organized another spectacular event for the academic year 2019-2020 - ‘Food Fest and Exhibition’. The event took place in the Quadrangle from 11.30 am onwards. This half day event mainly showcased the food, culture and architectural richness of South India. The student members of SIAlaid out an array of homemade delicacies, and showcased models of different heritage sitesfrom all the five states of the South. The exhibits also included the life and history of a few famous personalities and also the art forms from different parts of the South.


The F.A.S.E.S Association celebrated the 150th Gandhi Jayanthi in the College premises. The occasion was graced by the presence of Dr. Charanjeet Kaur. She is associated with Muse India, she is alsoassociated with SPARROW (Sound & Picture Archives for Research on Women), Mumbai. Also present were the Principal Dr Milind Vaidya and Vice Principal (also Convenor) Dr Koel Roy Choudhury, Co Convenor Mr Girish Kirtani (Co-ordinator, BFM) and both faculty and student members.

On 10th January,2020, a visit to Mani Bhavan was organised by FASES Association. Students members were accompanied by the Vice Principal Dr. Koel Roy Choudhury and Dr Indumati B - Coordinator of Bachelor of Accounting & Finance Coordinator (BAF). The students checked in at Mani Bhavan at around 9.30 a.m. and spent the entire morning there. During the visit students realised that, Mani Bhavan is a simple old style, two storied building on laburnum road, Mumbai. Whenever Gandhiji was in Mumbai between 1917 to 1934, he stayed there. Mani bhavan is one of the few important places hallowed by Mahatma Gandhi’s close association.

On 5th March 2020, the Fases Association of the college conducted an Oath Taking Ceremony in the quadrangle of the college. The entire college was a part of this ceremony. The event started at 11.00 a.m. in the morning. The students took oath, inspired by the principles of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of our Nation. The purpose of the oath was to appeal to all present that the Gandhian principles of truth, honesty and loyalty are still very important. The oath was repeated by the students after the Vice Principal Dr Koel RoyChoudhury.


The Library Committee along with the BSC CS Department conducted a small session for launching the first library application developed by the college. It was conducted in the library reading room on the 24rth of July 2019 .The purpose of the event was to felicitate the students of the CS department who developed the application. The session was conducted in the morning for a period of half an hour. Present for the session were the Library Committee members – the Convenor & Vice Principal Dr Koel RC , Ms Neelima B the Librarian & the Co Convenor along with the Assistant Librarian Ms Swapna Desai. The Coordinator of the CS Department Ms Padmaleela D along with other faculty members of the CS department and the IQAC team were also present for the launch.

The Library Committee conducted a session on ONLINE LEARNING for all the faculty members. It was conducted in the library reading room on the 29th of July 2019 .The purpose of the event was to create an awareness amongst faculty members about various options related to education and self development available on the internet. The session was conducted in the morning for a period of an hour. Present for the session were the Library Committee members – the Convenor & Vice Principal Dr Koel RC , Ms Neelima B the Librarian & the Co Convenor along with the Assistant Librarian Ms Swapna Desai.Most of the faculty members attended the session.

A session on CYBER WARFARE & MOBILE HACKING was conducted by the Library Committee for undergraduate students. It was conducted in the audio visual room on the 17 th of December 2019.The purpose of the event – to instill in students an awareness about mobile & internet security , the pitfalls and the precautions to be taken. The session was conducted in the morning for a period of two hours. Present for the session were the Library Committee members – the Convenor & Vice Principal Dr Koel RC , Ms Neelima B the Librarian & the Co Convenor along with the Assistant Librarian Ms Swapna Desai.
