Career Guidance Seminar

The Department of B.Com, SIES college of Arts, Science and Commerce, aims at imparting education that nurtures both theoretical and practical knowledge to our students and molding them for traditional as well as allied career opportunities feasible for Graduates of Commerce. In this direction, this academic year the Department arranged a “Career Guidance Seminar” for the First and Second year students of B.Com. on 23rd February from 9:30 am to 11:30am in the AV Room of the College.

Accordingly, Mr. Vilas Jagdale, Asst. Commissioner of Police, Thane along with Mr.Vikas Deshmukh, Faculty for Civil Services & Founder of Abhiyaan Foundation were invited as the guest speakers with a view to create awareness about career opportunities for students of Commerce in the field of Civil Services.

Beginning traditionally with the Principal’s address and the felicitation of the guests by the Principal Ms. Koel Roy CHoudhury, the Seminar proceeded with the thematic note delivered by Ms. Sugandha Jha, Coordinator, BCom which in turn paved way for the Guest Speakers. Mr. Vilas Jagdale inaugurated the Seminar with his speech and inspired the audience with enthralling narratives from his professional life, and as also from experiences of his modest origins. In complete contrast, Mr. Vikas Deshmukh engaged in a morality and ethics test with the audience who thoroughly enjoyed the same. Further, Mr. Deshmukh elaborated on how one should practically use the knowledge received in educational institution.

The event struck a chord with the audience, who were motivated by the sheer hard work of Mr.Vilas Jagdale and the admirable wit of Mr. Vilas Deshmukh. It was a very informative lecture with a very deep insight into the details of the Civil service exams, of what these exams ask of candidates, the sheer importance of the knowledge we gain through it in our day to day lives, and the broad scope it provides to serve one’s country. The event was formally called to closure with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Ashwathy P V Ravindran, Assistant Professor, Department of BCom.
